What to actually do there

Beyond the viewpoint photos: the passenger boat into Reinefjorden runs to Vindstad, from where an easy walk crosses to Bunes — a huge, roadless beach facing the open sea — before the boat brings you back. Kayak rentals work the same mirror water our photographs show. The white wooden church above the village dates from 1890, built in the boom years of the fishery. And Reinebringen, the stone staircase, climbs straight out of the village — it has its own route guide.

On a still day the fjords go mirror-flat and the mountains double. These photographs are from a May boat trip out of Skjelfjorden to Reine.
