Susanne and Vegard

We are Vegard and Susanne — Oslo first, then abroad since 2016. From the day we moved out of Norway we knew we needed a way back in: not a city apartment, but the most Norwegian place we could find, somewhere to bring friends and family and show them the country at its best. We had spent holiday after holiday in Lofoten, so the search started here. It took two years. When we found this place on Skjelfjorden, we stopped looking.

We use the house in every season, and we use it the way the place asks to be used: we walk the mountains, we take the boat out, we swim from the beach when the sauna has done its work — and the fish we eat, we catch ourselves. Susanne paints, oil on canvas, and the old barn is her studio. It stays private, but it explains something about the house: the pictures on the walls, and the eye behind the rooms.

When we are not here, letting the house stand empty felt wrong. So we made it available — and honestly, the guests’ thanks for that decision are the best part of hosting.

Every message comes straight to me, and I answer quickly. Tell me your rough plan and I will send back trail suggestions, driving tips and the small things only locals know — the reviews keep better score of this than I ever could. The practical side is professional: a code lock lets you in from 16:00 with no key handover, and a cleaning team resets the house completely before every stay.
