5 min driveFaces west — midnight sunAurora beach in winter

The long white beach on the outer coast, directly below Ramberg and facing west, into the open sea — straight into the midnight sun in June, and towards dark open water in aurora season. It is one of the few places in Lofoten where you can watch the midnight sun touch the water without climbing anything.

Its point is nearness: this is the beach you visit for twenty minutes because you live nearby, at whatever hour the light turns good. Sand walks in summer, wave-watching after an autumn storm, and in aurora season a dark northern horizon five minutes from your own sauna — bring a headlamp for the walk back to the car.

Getting there

Five minutes by car; park by the village. The sand runs long enough that a walk to the far end and back is a real leg-stretch.

Swimming?

The sea here is cold all year — which is exactly what makes the dip after a sauna work. For a swim with the sauna attached, the beach at the house is the one at your door.
