Private sauna on your private beach
The property came with three buildings: the house, the old barn, and a boathouse at the water's edge. The boathouse was the obvious place for a sauna, because it was already standing where you would want to sit — low, close to the sea, looking straight out along the fjord.
The building is the classic red of a Lofoten boathouse, with a white door facing the beach and chairs lined up outside the window. It has a shower of its own, so you can rinse before your sauna session and after every cold plunge in the Arctic sea.

“The private sauna next to the beach was so cool! We used it every day and would then jump right into the fjord.”
“We booked this property largely for the fjord-side sauna and WOW it did not disappoint.”
“The view from inside the sauna is a dream.”
“Watching the view from the sauna while the kids played in the sand outside the door — that will stay one of my best memories.”
The view from the sauna
One big window, facing the right way: the beach, the water and the mountains, from the bench. Swipe through the year.

The ritual: heat, the sea, repeat
Warm through properly in the sauna — until the cold sea sounds like a good idea rather than a dare. Walk to the water. Go in, briefly and completely. Come out feeling extraordinary. Return to the heat, and let the second round make the case for a third.
It is the local answer to a rainy day, to sore hiking legs, to a long drive — restitution as an activity. And here it is not a spa luxury: a sauna by the sea is what a weather day is for, and what hiking legs want after a summit.
