Your own beach, four minutes off the E10

A 1950s family house on Skjelfjorden, rebuilt by us into the place we dreamed of: new and functional where it matters, with the old charm kept where it belongs. Two floors, four bedrooms, a kitchen and a fireplace on each storey — room for eight: two families, a group of friends, or just the two of you. Social when you want to be, private when you don’t.

The sand beach starts where the fjord ends, and for your stay it is yours alone — with the dock, the sauna, the fire pits, and the benches on the hill behind. Ramberg, with its shop and café, is five minutes away. The E10 is four. There is a Type 2 EV charger by the door, free for guests. And the silence and the view, guests keep telling us, are the point.

  • Truly one of the best — if not the best — family holidays with friends we have ever had. The house was perfect, and the location extraordinary.— Jesse · July 2026
  • You are a short drive from the villages, yet in a quiet spot on a beautiful fjord. Hard to beat.— Joe, Portland · June 2026
  • The view from the house is not comparable to any of the photos we found beforehand. A thousand times better.— Rasha, Germany · December 2025
  • The option to charge the EV at the house was a real plus.— Maya · March 2026

The sauna

The boathouse became the sauna. The fjord became the cold plunge.

In the seventies this building held a boat and fishing gear. Today it holds a wood-panelled sauna with a window straight onto the beach, and just a few steps of sand between the hot bench and the cold Arctic sea.

It is the single thing our guests mention most. Not the idea of a sauna: the ritual of it. Heat, run, plunge, repeat — and after a long day in the mountains, there is no better recovery for tired legs. Then the quiet on the bench outside, while your pulse settles.

The location

A superb starting point

From here, the famous names become short trips: Reine and Reinebringen twenty-odd minutes away, Nusfjord and Kvalvika within easy reach, Å at the end of the road — and one summit, Volandstind, that starts on foot 1.8 km from the house. You are four minutes off the E10, but on a side fjord: close to everything, next to nothing.

  • An ideal starting point — Å, Nusfjord, Uttakleiv, all within a short drive.— Rolf, Switzerland · January 2026
  • On a side fjord, and therefore not directly on the E10. Quiet, with few cars passing.— Silvia, Thun · September 2023
  • The perfect base — many of the best hiking trails close by.— Jesse, Copenhagen · July 2026
